Service-to-career pathways: A win-win for Vermont

One unique feature of all Serve Learn Earn programs is the inclusion of service. While some of our programs include AmeriCorps positions and are focused on long-term service experience, many others focus on community-based short-term service projects. In either case, service provides participants the opportunity to master technical skills, develop leadership and teamwork, get hands-on experience, hone their goals and passions, and build community.

“My time as an AmeriCorps member has allowed me to find my true passion: early childhood education in the form of a forest preschool. I feel so lucky to be able to watch children grow their confidence, communication skills, and interpersonal skills while also becoming more confident in their place in the natural world. My terms of service at Audubon Vermont have inspired me to return to school for a second bachelor's degree in early childhood education, with the hopes of working at a forest preschool program in Vermont once my term ends.”  Audubon, Education AmeriCorps Member

Serve Learn Earn programs focus on training and service in the building trades and conservation sectors. Not only are participants learning critical skills and earning high-wage positions, but they are helping Vermont meet our climate, energy, and housing goals.
